The "Lefka Ori", named after the White Mountains, was opened in 1969 by Andreas Fasoulakis as a kafenio and was at that time almost alone at the small old harbour of Chora Sfakion. Today you will find several tavernas, but they do not detract from the friendly, traditional atmosphere of the place. The Lefka Ori has also changed in the meantime, first into a restaurant-taverna and later on into a small hotel, but it still remains a family business, with Andreas as the chef in the kitchen and the three sons, Georgos, Manolis and Giannis as waiters, serving their guests with great hospitality.
All of them speak English, Georges also speaks Italian and Manolis speaks German; they very much enjoy chatting with their guests after a meal.
